Tracery Vest

My Tracery Vest is finally complete!
I'm overall pleased with it, despite some somewhat sloppy looking neck and shoulder finishing. I was more annoyed by this before I looked closer at the Ravelry projects other people have done and saw they had similar issues. I'm not exactly sure how to fix this going forward, other than to maybe not do both a deep V neck and flat colorwork together with this type of collar. I think it's going to get a lot of wear, as it looks good with high waisted pants and skirts over both fluffy blouses and turtlenecks. I kinda wish I'd knitted a size smaller and am considering throwing it in the dryer to get it to tighten up a bit. It fits as advertized, but I'd like a more corsety effect.

With this and Maneaters done, the big two projects that have been hanging around since the move are now complete! I love when my docket gets cleared so I can move on to new things without feeling guilty!

Wow it's been a month since I got any work on this vest done. After fighting with 2 handed colorwork, purl side, I found out that I can just purl English style and drop the carried yarn when I'm not using it. Slowish, but I'm having to concentrate on where I'm at in the pattern more since I can't see the right side anyway so it all works out. I'm about halfway done with the left front side and should be done with the front by the end of the week. I don't think this will get much wear until fall since it's already quite warm here but I'll still be glad to have it. Definitely a skill building project to be proud of and now that I can do stranded colorwork flat, I can start making some set in sleeve vintage style sweaters in non-steekable (superwash/nylon sock) yarn. They have a much nicer fit than circular yoke sweaters in my opinion since they are less slouchy through the waist and bust and don't sag due to the structural stability of the seams.

Happy New Year! Got the ribbing and about half the body colorword done on the vest. I had to frog quite a bit at one point because I hadn't been doing the increases. I was spitting mad for awhile there but now it's looking good! You can finally see some of the pretty tonal variation in the yellow as well.

Cast on and started the 2x2 ribbing
Turns out it's actually easier to do ribbing in two colors because I'm not constantly having to double check when I'm supposed to be knitting or purling. 2 inches down, 3.5 to go.

Got in the yarns and swatched them up. I'm using KniPicks stroll in black and KnitPicks Hawthorne in Compass Kettle. I'm a little concerned that the yellow is a bit too bright and "Hogwarts Housey," but I do think it will look good if I do some duplicate stitch details in white at the end. The kettle dye yellow should still give some nice variation without being full on rainbow, which I don't think I'd actually wear.
